Actuellement la quasi-totalit\u00e9 de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne produit dans le monde l\u2019est \u00e0 partir de\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Hydrogen_production&amp;oldid=992060888\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">vaporeformage<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0du m\u00e9thane<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">du gaz naturel\u202f:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e9metteur de CO<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">2<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0appliqu\u00e9 \u00e0 une ressource non renouvelable. Obtenir de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne renouvelable implique de disposer d\u2019une ressource d\u2019\u00e9nergie renouvelable comme le soleil (cellules photovolta\u00efque<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">) ou le vent (\u00e9oliennes)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0et d\u2019utiliser<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0en sortie pour r\u00e9aliser l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse de l\u2019eau, pour\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">produire<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne et de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Le rendement de ces \u00e9lectrolyse<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">urs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0est relativement bon (autour de 80%<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fch.europa.eu\/project\/novel-materials-and-system-designs-low-cost-efficient-and-durable-pem-electrolysers\"><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Cf. Les r\u00e9servoirs \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne liquide peuvent emporter plus d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne que\u00a0leur contrepartie gazeuse,\u00a0tout en s\u2019affranchissant des contraintes m\u00e9caniques \u00e9lev\u00e9es pour supporter les fortes pressions des r\u00e9servoirs gazeux. La\u00a0cons\u00e9quence\u00a0est une\u00a0contrainte suppl\u00e9mentaire\u00a0avec\u00a0la\u00a0temp\u00e9rature cryog\u00e9nique (-250\u00b0C)\u00a0de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne liquide\u00a0et ses effets sur la fragilisation des mat\u00e9riaux. L\u2019industrie spatiale\u00a0poss\u00e8de une exp\u00e9rience dans le domaine des basses temp\u00e9ratures qu\u2019il\u00a0est\u00a0important de\u00a0mettre \u00e0 profit pour des applications a\u00e9ronautiques ou\u00a0d\u2019autres\u00a0applications embarqu\u00e9es, m\u00eame si les ordres de grandeur de dur\u00e9e de vie sont bien\u00a0diff\u00e9rents\u00a0entre l\u2019a\u00e9rospatial et l\u2019a\u00e9ronautique.\u00a0 Une infrastructure\u00a0de production\u00a0\u00e0 mettre en place\u00a0 L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e9tant un vecteur d\u2019\u00e9nergie\u00a0et non pas une source d\u2019\u00e9nergie, il est n\u00e9cessaire de le produire d\u2019une mani\u00e8re ou d\u2019une autre. Actuellement la quasi-totalit\u00e9 de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne produit dans le monde l\u2019est \u00e0 partir de\u00a0vaporeformage\u00a0du m\u00e9thane, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire\u00a0du gaz naturel\u202f:\u00a0un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e9metteur de CO2\u00a0appliqu\u00e9 \u00e0 une ressource non renouvelable. Obtenir de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne renouvelable implique de disposer d\u2019une ressource d\u2019\u00e9nergie renouvelable comme le soleil (cellules photovolta\u00efques) ou le vent (\u00e9oliennes)\u00a0et d\u2019utiliser\u00a0l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9\u00a0en sortie pour r\u00e9aliser l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse de l\u2019eau, pour\u00a0produire\u00a0de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne et de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne.\u00a0Le rendement de ces \u00e9lectrolyseurs\u00a0est relativement bon (autour de 80%.\u00a0Cf. M. Magnus\u00a0Thomassen\u00a0in \u00ab\u202fNovel materials and system designs for low cost, efficient and durable PEM\u00a0electrolysers\u202f\u00bb, p. 25),\u00a0mais\u00a0poss\u00e8de\u00a0encore\u00a0une\u00a0marge de progression.\u00a0Pour soutenir cette \u00e9conomie, l\u2019Europe souhaite d\u00e9velopper jusqu\u2019\u00e0 40 GW de ces \u00e9lectrolyseurs d\u2019ici 2050, ce qui implique de d\u00e9velopper la m\u00eame quantit\u00e9\u00a0de\u00a0puissance install\u00e9e\u00a0d\u2019\u00e9nergie renouvelable.\u00a0 Les d\u00e9fis les plus\u00a0cons\u00e9quents\u00a0importants\u00a0\u00e0 relever pour la cr\u00e9ation de cette \u00e9conomie hydrog\u00e8ne sont de l\u2019ordre de l\u2019infrastructure\u00a0de\u00a0la\u00a0production d\u2019\u00e9nergie\u00a0renouvelable.\u00a0L\u2019Allemagne poss\u00e8de une installation cons\u00e9quente, plus de 60 GW de puissance install\u00e9e pour l\u2019\u00e9olien et plus de 50 GW de photovolta\u00efque\u00a0(vieillissant), soit presque le double\u00a0de\u00a0notre\u00a0puissance install\u00e9e\u00a0nucl\u00e9aire. La France, elle,\u00a0poss\u00e8de\u00a0actuellement\u00a0environ 27 GW d\u2019\u00e9olien et de photovolta\u00efque\u00a0combin\u00e9s\u00a0(Cf. Emissions CO\u2082 de la consommation \u00e9lectrique en temps r\u00e9el). L\u2019\u00e9conomie hydrog\u00e8ne imposera donc de d\u00e9velopper ces ressources \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques\u00a0dont les co\u00fbts risquent d\u2019augmenter avec la rar\u00e9faction des ressources \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques non renouvelables\u00a0(il faut du p\u00e9trole et du gaz pour fabriquer et importer des panneaux photovolta\u00efques et des \u00e9oliennes). Une solution pourrait\u00a0\u00eatre le d\u00e9veloppement de\u00a0nouvelles technologies\u00a0de cellules\u00a0photovolta\u00efques,\u00a0ou le d\u00e9veloppement de\u00a0la 4\u00e8me\u00a0g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de centrale nucl\u00e9aire et de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne par \u00e9lectrolyse \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature,\u00a0qui poss\u00e8de un bon rendement.\u00a0\u00a0 Actuellement,\u00a0que ce soit le d\u00e9veloppement de nouvelles technologies pour la production d\u2019\u00e9nergie renouvelable ou bien le\u00a0d\u00e9ploiement de solutions existantes, les verrous technologiques sont port\u00e9s par une grande partie\u00a0du tissu industriel fran\u00e7ais,\u00a0mais aussi par ses politiques.\u00a0 Un r\u00e9seau \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper\u00a0 L\u2019impl\u00e9mentation de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne au niveau\u00a0du territoire\u00a0soul\u00e8ve d\u2019autres\u00a0obstacles\u00a0technologiques pour les industriels. Certaines applications utilisant l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne sont port\u00e9es par des acteurs locaux avec des ressources \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques locales (pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une ferme \u00e9olienne ou solaire). Dans ce cas de figure, l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne gazeux se pr\u00eate\u00a0bien \u00e0 ces applications,\u00a0car la compression\u00a0de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne\u00a0reste peu \u00e9nergivore.\u00a0\u00a0 Image: Michael\u00a0Ismar, NPROXX\u00a0\u2013 Transport d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne par voie ferr\u00e9e, Allemagne\u00a0 Malgr\u00e9 tout, pour les r\u00e9gions moins bien loties\u00a0au niveau de l\u2019ensoleillement et\u00a0moins vent\u00e9es, le d\u00e9veloppement du transport de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne reste \u00e0 mettre en place, que ce soit par pipeline ou\u00a0par\u00a0un \u00e9quivalent du\u00a0camion-citerne. L\u2019infrastructure existante de transport du gaz naturel pourrait \u00eatre mise\u00a0\u00e0 profit\u00a0pour le\u00a0transport\u00a0de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne\u00a0m\u00eame si des efforts seront \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser sur le renforcement de ce r\u00e9seau (fragilisation des aciers\u00a0entre autres).\u00a0Outre le transport, le d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne ira de pair avec la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019un maillage de stations-services\u00a0sur le territoire. Cela n\u00e9cessite l\u2019adaptation de normes pr\u00e9cises (d\u00e9j\u00e0 existantes\u00a0en partie) et d\u2019\u00e9quipements ad\u00e9quats.\u00a0 Concernant l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne liquide, la\u00a0liqu\u00e9faction est un processus \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiquement\u00a0co\u00fbteux dont l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 diminue avec la\u00a0petitesse\u00a0de l\u2019unit\u00e9 de liqu\u00e9faction\u00a0(Cf.\u00a0H. Leridon, \u00ab\u202fChaire D\u00e9veloppement durable \u2013 environnement, \u00e9nergie et soci\u00e9t\u00e9: Ann\u00e9e acad\u00e9mique 2008-2009\u202f\u00bb,\u00a0lettre-cdf, no\u00a025, p. 9).\u00a0Il faut donc imaginer de grandes stations de liqu\u00e9faction pour obtenir un rendement \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique\u00a0int\u00e9ressant.\u00a0Au-del\u00e0 des acteurs locaux\u00a0(station de remplissage), il reste \u00e0 imaginer une semi&#8211;centralisation des moyens de liqu\u00e9faction autour de grands hubs\u00a0industriels ou a\u00e9roportuaires.
